Prospective Students

Graduate education at UC Merced is organized around graduate groups that emphasize a highly interdisciplinary approach to research and scholarship.

Faculty members within the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (SSHA) are committed to working together to provide various course offerings and research experiences that transcend disciplinary boundaries and attack important real-world problems.

SSHA hosts seven diverse graduate programs. While students are educated in a particular discipline, they have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research and collaboration if they so desire. Graduate study at UC Merced involves working closely with one or more professors, therefore, prospective applicants should carefully consult the faculty list for current research topics.

Additional information about each graduate program, participating faculty, and current research areas are available on their respective websites.
